(Republican Leader) – Progressives are bound and determined to invade every nook and cranny of your private life, starting, it seems, with how you consume energy. First, they came for the gas stoves and now they want to take away your ceiling fans. Why can’t these folks just stay out of our homes and lives as much as possible? Apparently, they have forgotten they are supposed to be chained down in place by the Constitution. Obeying the Constitution, my that’s a novel concept, isn’t it?
The New York Post is reporting that the Department of Energy is now proposing a new rule that would require ceiling fans to be more energy efficient, stating the move would ultimately save households in the United States big bucks on energy costs. As usual, the federal government is attempting to inch its way into having more and more control over the nation using the green agenda as its cover.
“According to the Energy Department’s analysis, the new rules would save households about $39 over the lifespan of the new energy-efficient fan. However, the cost to manufacturers associated with the increased equipment will total $86.6 million per year, the department said. Republicans on the House Committee on Small Business say if the rule goes into effect it could put small manufacturers out of business, given the costs the companies would incur in order to comply with the changes,” the piece goes on to say.
“This rule would require numerous small business fan manufacturers to redesign their products and may put between 10 and 30 percent of small business ceiling fan manufacturers out of business,” the GOP members of the committee stated in a letter addressed to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm on Thursday. “It appears that the Department of Energy (DOE) may not have properly considered small entities during this rulemaking process.”
The Post added that the DOE has been extremely aggressive in its attempted implementation of strict regulations concerning household appliances over the course of the last several months, throwing out propositions for new rules concerning the use of gas stoves, ovens, refrigerators, air conditioners, dishwashers, and other items to try and implement the green agenda of the Biden administration.
During his first day in office, back in January 2021, President Joe Biden signed an executive order that would require the Energy Department to make “major revisions” to regulation standards for current appliances and to the standards created by the Trump administration.
Just a month later, the agency cooked up a list of nearly a dozen energy-efficiency rules that would have a major impact on household appliances like water heaters, cooking products, and lamps that it was planning to review.
“Their philosophy is energy efficiency at all costs or energy efficiency no matter the cost,” a former senior Energy Department official, who served while Donald Trump was the commander-in-chief, previously noted in an interview with Fox News Digital. “That means we are going to see, as a result of their efficiency standards, higher-priced appliances. It’s that simple.”
