Former Attorney General: Jamie Raskin Lied About Biden Family-Corruption Probe

(Republican Leader) – Former Attorney General William Barr recently told The Federalist that, “It’s not true. It wasn’t closed down,” in a response to Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin’s statement that he, along with his “handpicked prosecutor” shut down a probe into allegations made by a confidential human source that President Joe Biden agreed to take a bribe of $5 million.

“On the contrary,” Barr emphasized, “it was sent to Delaware for further investigation.”

The report reveals that Barr went on the record after Raskin’s statements were made at a press conference held on Monday afternoon. Not long after attending a closed-door meeting with the House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, that featured lawmakers going over the FD-1023 form that summarized the CHS’s allegations that Joe Biden, who was serving as vice president in the Obama administration at the time, agreed to accept cash from a foreign national in exchange for influencing policy decisions.

“What I learned,” Raskin asserted, “was that Attorney General Barr named Scott Brady, who was the U.S. attorney for Western Pennsylvania, to head up a group of prosecutors who would look into all the allegations related to Ukraine.”

“After Rudy Giuliani surfaced these allegations,” Raskin went on to add, Brady’s team investigated the FD-1023 and “in August determined that there was no grounds to escalate from an initial assessment to a preliminary investigation,” and so “they called an end to the investigation.”

Raskin, a Maryland Democratic, then repeated the claim that this was all done “under Attorney General William Barr and his handpicked prosecutor Mr. Brady, who was a Trump appointee.” According to him, “they were the ones who decided” there was no further need for an investigation, stating, “If there is a complaint, it is with Attorney General William Barr, the Trump Justice Department, and the team that the Trump administration appointed to look into it.”

However, Barr says we shouldn’t buy what Raskin is trying to sell, because it’s all a pack of wild fabrications. He says that the confidential human source’s claims, which are detailed in the FD-1023 document, were then shipped off to the Delaware U.S. attorney’s office for further investigation.

“That, however, was just one of Raskin’s deceptions: The ranking member of the House Oversight Committee also falsely suggested the CHS’s allegations were related to the investigation of information Rudy Giuliani had unearthed of the Biden family corruption in Ukraine,” the piece noted.

One person who is close to the matter spoke with The Federalist and declared that the CHS’s summary of his statement was unrelated to Giuliani and did not come from any information that he provided.

“This corroborates the House Oversight Committee’s representation that the June 30, 2020, FD-1023 ‘stands on its own’ and was not part of the documents Giuliani provided the FBI in January 2020,” The Federalist stated.

The House Oversight Committee has revealed that the FD-1023 form “contains information from the FBI’s confidential human source dating back to another FD-1023 generated in 2017,” which takes Giuliani out of the situation altogether.

This new information is critical for a couple of different reasons. First off, there’s the whole mess concerning how the FBI failed to actually do its job and look into the FD-1023 form and the fact that FBI Supervisory Intelligence Analyst Brian Auten opened an assessment in late summer of 2020 designed to discredit the information it contained “caused investigative activity to cease.”

“Knowing that the FD-1023 originated in Brady’s Western District of Pennsylvania proves explosive because Grassley’s whistleblower alleged that in September 2020, FBI headquarters placed the information contained in Auten’s assessment in a restricted-access sub-file that only the particular agents who uncovered the CHS’s info could access. How then could the FBI agents in Delaware further investigate the allegations?” Margot Cleveland of The Federalist wrote.

Comer, speaking with The Federalist, remarked that those allegations are stunning.

“A trusted confidential human source obtained information from a foreign national who claimed to have bribed then-Vice President Biden,” Comer went on to say to the outlet.

In other words, the CHS didn’t hand off the information in question to a random individual, they talked with the person who claimed to have given the bribe to Biden himself.

The other major reason this new revelation is important is because it potentially goes all the way to the top of the bureau: Director Christopher Wray.

Yes, this whole thing could reveal that Wray, the top dog at the FBI, was involved in an attempt to cover up a vice president being bribed by a foreign national to prevent damaging information from coming to light that could have kept Biden from being elected president.

“The more the FBI leak and coverup machine spins for President Biden, the worse the bureau looks,” Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said during an interview with The Federalist after finding out about Barr’s statement. “Enough is enough. It’s past time for the FBI to come clean and show their work if they have any hope of salvaging their own credibility.”

“The FBI must produce this record to the House Oversight Committee’s custody,” Comer added, and “if not, we will take action on Thursday to hold Director Wray in contempt of Congress.”
