Gavin Newsom Rushes To Blame DeSantis… Instantly Regrets It

(Republican Leader) – It’s absolutely hysterical that Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom of California has dedicated so much of his time, money, and other resources to waging a one-man war against Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is now running for president, while his state continues to sink further and further into the muck and mire. You’d think Newsom would actually do the job he has been elected to do and start working on that projected $32 billion budget shortfall he has on his hands. But nope. Taking on DeSantis is his sole focus at the moment.

Tom Tillison of BizPac Review said in a recent report, “Another remarkable thing is that you would think Newsom would make sure he knows what he’s talking about before trying to slight his Republican counterpart. Just as Democrats are wont to do after every mass shooting, Newsom pounced on a shooting that took place along a beachside promenade in Hollywood, Florida, to fault a bill Gov. DeSantis signed last month allowing for permit-less concealed carry — the shooting resulted from a fight Monday evening in front of a stretch of shops on the Oceanfront Broadwalk, according to the Associated Press. Nine people were injured, six adults and three children.”

We’ve all heard about Trump Derangement Syndrome, but it appears DeSantis Derangement Syndrome is also a real thing. And boy, does Newsom got it bad, bad, bad.

After Newsom pointed out in a tweet that the Florida Republican put his signature down on a permit-less carry bill back in April, he added, “Until our leaders have the courage to stop bowing down to the NRA and enact common sense gun safety this kind of senseless violence will continue.”

However, there’s just one, teeny, tiny problem with his assessment. The bill doesn’t even go into full effect until July 1, 2023. Feel free to insert a good old fashioned Homer Simpson “Doh!” right here.

Jeremy Redfern, the press secretary for DeSantis, responded to the tweet, saying, “Hi Gavin, How does a law that doesn’t take effect until July 1st change this outcome?”

This sort of stupidity is to be expected when you are a person with an intelligence quotient equal to a toddler’s shoe size, but should not an individual elected to such an important office have the smarts to discharge the duties it requires? I guess the fact Joe Biden is president discredits that notion.

However, the Democratic governor got a few other things wrong as well. He made a claim that the legislation tosses out the requirements for a background check, which, as Fox News pointed out, is not the case.

“The law allows eligible citizens 21 years of age and up to carry without asking the government for a permit and without paying a fee. The legislation does not change who is eligible to obtain a carry permit, and those who still wish to get a permit may do so under the law,” the network stated in a report on Newsom’s comments.

“Under existing Florida law, people who wish to obtain a license to carry concealed weapons in public must pass a fingerprint-based background check and complete a firearms training class, among other requirements. Interestingly, gun-grabbing queen Shannon Watts repeated the misleading claim about the law that is not effective for another full month,” Tillison noted.
